Apple may discontinue iPhone 12 after iPhone 15 launch. Here’s why
Apple iPhone 15 is already creating a buzz about its technology, its expected features, and rumors about its looks. But, the release of the new Apple iPhone also affects the larger iPhone markets as some iPhones are discontinued, and the price of other iPhones is reduced. The iPhone 12 is expected to be discontinued after the launch of the iPhone 15 as Apple never keeps iPhones in its stores that are older than three years.
Every year Apple removes some iPhones from its production line and although these iPhones are still available on e-commerce websites or in refurbished form with some dealers, the Apple Stores stop selling them.
Currently, iPhones like iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max can be found in Apple Stores. In particular, Apple did not manufacture mini models for the iPhone 14 model because the sales of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini were not very significant.
Retirement and Prices
iPhone 12 will be the first casualty since the introduction of the iPhone 15 and instead of being discontinued, the prices of the model on the e-commerce websites are likely to drop significantly.
The other models that are expected to be discontinued are the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, as Apple is discontinuing these versions from all previous iPhones. Technology experts are suggesting that the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 14 Plus may also be discontinued or at least their prices are expected to drop sharply.
The reasons for the retirement are the 6.7-inch display of the iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which could be counterproductive in the sale of the new iPhone model.
