WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Share Screen on Android
You can share your screen on WhatsApp soon. Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is apparently working on a screen sharing feature already available on WhatsApp Beta for Android that lets you share your screen. WhatsApp Beta v2.23.11.19 is available, the update has been marked as compatible and will be coming soon to the public versions of the app.
WhatsApp has been missing a screen sharing feature for a long time. Since the world has moved to work from home and Zoom-type things, the feature has become popular with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet among others.
That being said, the feature will roll out to Android first followed by iOS although the dates for both are a mystery.
The feature works simply by tapping ‘Screen-Sharing’ feature when there is a video call or a group call. When you tap the option, Google will prompt you that a screen sharing scenario has been triggered, and it’s only when you tap ‘Start Now’ that the feature will start sharing screens with the participants. You can tap ‘Stop Sharing’ to end the sharing and continue the call as it is.
The feature is useful when you are sharing items or files you have on your device and want to show them to others. It also becomes an important aspect in today’s times when people have moved to a WFH work culture after COVID. However, you need to understand that screen sharing can be a threat to WhatsApp scams and spam. Therefore, you must think before sharing the screen.
Otherwise, the feature will not work on older versions of Android. It will also prevent it from performing well on a large group call. We’ll have to wait for the official update to get a good look at the feature when it arrives.
