WhatsApp to get Meta VR Headset Compatibility Soon

0

WhatsApp Beta v2.23.13.6 is rolling out to Android users via Google Play Store, a sweet surprise. It turns out that Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would make WhatsApp VR compatible with Meta’s VR headsets.

Currently in development, the folks at WABetaInfo have spotted a new feature that allows users to pair their Meta VR headset to a WhatsApp account. As you can see, the ‘Linked Devices’ option clearly shows ‘Meta Quest’ as one of the devices linked to that WhatsApp account.

Many attempts have already been made to access WhatsApp on VR headsets and still, users have not succeeded. It remains a question exactly how Meta will proceed with VR Compatibility on WhatsApp maintaining the end-to-end encryption, compatibility information and how the connection will be made first.

The feature is under development and therefore, not even available to the beta testers. Hopefully beta users will come across it in future updates though it’s pretty exciting how Meta is jumping on WhatsApp’s VR compatibility with its headsets. It recently launched Meta Quest 3 VR headset against the super expensive Apple Vision Pro which will be available soon.

WhatsApp is adding many features right and left. We recently informed our users about the WhatsApp screen sharing feature. The ability to send HD photos is being tested. Similarly, WhatsApp extended the companion mode allowing users to access their WhatsApp account on multiple devices while maintaining end-to-end encryption among others.
