Apple iPhone 15 may come with improved performance and reduced battery consumption: Report

0

Apple will launch the iPhone 15 series in September later this year. According to Apple’s reliable analyst – Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino-based company will aggressively upgrade its hardware specifications to develop the Vision Pro ecosystem. Kuo says that Apple is planning to introduce an improved Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip with the iPhone 15. The upgraded chipset will provide improved performance and reduced power consumption for nearby interactions. He says that the production process may need to be moved from 16nm to a higher 7nm.

Apple used the same U1 UWB chip from the iPhone 11. The chipset is also used in the Series 6 Apple Watch and previous generations as well as the Apple HomePod mini, the second-gen HomePod, the case of the new AirPods Pro, and AirTags. The U1 offers features like Find My, Handoff, Precision Finding, and AirDrop features.

In addition, Apple may bring Wi-Fi 7 with iPhone 16 which, Kuo says, will further help Apple’s integration of hardware products running on the same local network and provide a better ecosystem experience.

Meanwhile, iPhone 15 and its Plus version are expected to receive three significant upgrades compared to their predecessors. The standard models of the iPhone 15 series are rumored to incorporate Apple’s new Dynamic Island feature, which could feature a punch-hole display design. However, no official confirmation has been received on this matter.

Currently, the punch-hole design is exclusive to the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models, but it is expected that this may change with the release of the iPhone 15 series, as this rumor has been circulating for some time.

Another upgrade said to be coming to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is a 48MP camera. This was a significant improvement over the 12MP sensors found on current iPhone models. Another significant change expected in the 2023 iPhones is the replacement of Apple’s Lightning port, seen on previous models, with a USB Type-C port.
