Spam calls and messages on WhatsApp are a concern as people have started receiving them frequently. These spammers know how to trick innocent users disguised as employees from banks or other places and they have hundreds of tricks in the box to trick users.
Meta-owned WhatsApp recently launched a filter that scans through calls you’re receiving on the app and blocks those from ‘unknown sources’.
This feature works by blocking calls when you receive one from an unknown number. You can still check the caller details in the ‘Calls’ tab but the phone will not ring when such calls arrive. If you think the caller is legit or someone you know, you can easily call back. However, you need to know that when you call or send a message to the ‘unknown caller’ or someone you know but don’t want to receive calls from, the filter will not block the call in from that person in the future even if the feature is active.
How to Silence Unknown Calls on WhatsApp?
Here’s how you can silence unknown calls on WhatsApp on both Android and iOS devices.
Step #1: Address WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android device.
Step #2: Navigate to Arrangements using the option three dots in the upper right corner.
Step #3:On to ‘Privacy >> Calls’.
Step #4: Toggle to enable ‘Silence Unknown Callers’ and that’s it.
Note: In case you can’t see this option, go to App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and update WhatsApp.
