YouTuber Matthew Beem and his team managed to build the world’s largest iPhone, measuring a whopping 8 feet. Although it sounds incredible, the benefits of larger smartphones cannot be denied. Apple itself abandoned the mini iPhone concept last year, choosing to release a non-Pro iPhone 14 Plus with the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Currently, the largest iPhone available on the market is the 6.7-inch Pro Max models. Matthew Beem proudly claims that his creation is the largest iPhone ever made, surpassing the previous record set by YouTuber ZHC, who built a 6-foot iPhone in 2020.
Surprisingly, the giant 8-foot iPhone created by YouTuber Matthew Beem functions just like any other regular iPhone. It has all the usual features, including the ability to take photos, make payments through Apple Pay, use various apps, set alarms, and even play games.
In a video shared by Matthew Beem, he took the oversized iPhone on a trip to New York City to gauge people’s reactions. He rode the subway, captured selfies and pictures of iconic landmarks, and was even reviewed by a popular high-tech YouTuber MKBHD. Despite its huge size, this iPhone offers an experience similar to using a standard iPhone, albeit with a great twist.
Contrary to popular belief, the 8-foot “iPhone” created by YouTuber Matthew Beem is not an authentic iPhone. Instead, it is a combination of different components from different products. The massive screen includes touch panels typically found in televisions, enabling it to function similarly to an actual iPhone display. To create a seamless experience, lasers are positioned around the screen. This oversized TV display is then connected to a Mac mini, which runs the same apps commonly used on iPhones.
All the familiar features, such as the lock button, volume buttons, and the mute button work just like the ones on iPhone. The device even sports a glass finish on both the front and back, and the front camera is equipped with FaceTime functionality.
