“Om Raut’s Like Yahan Valley, Cave, Waterfall Hai & I’m Like ‘Kahan?’”
Adipurush Om Raut – starring Prabhas as Raghava (Lord Rama), Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavana), and Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Banda Sita), released in theaters earlier this month. Based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, the film received a negative response upon its release and was trashed for its dialogues, storyline, CGI and more. The big budget film is currently struggling at the box office.
Among these, there is an old video of the film’s leading lady talking about it and praising the director for thinking of something “very different” on Reddit. The video is going viral as netizens are leaving some unpleasant comments on it. Read on to know all.
The clip – shared on Reddit with the caption “This has not aged well…”, is a snippet from an old interview with Miss Malini. In the clip, Kriti Sanon talks about Adipurush and director Om Raut, saying, “It comes with a lot of responsibility, but then I know that I am in great hands and that is Om Raut, who is just a genius. I love him as a director. I think it’s so technologically sound, and its vision is something very different – very, very different. Like what he’s doing. “…
Talking further about the now trashed and trolled Adipurush, Kriti Sanon said, “You know sometimes we’ll be in that studio and joking around and I’m like ‘I’m doing my biggest film in the smallest series’, because it’s a studio. It’s like blue screens – everything has to be proven. All the hills and waterfalls you will see will come later. So for us it is limited space. You know sometimes when we’re running we’re running in the same thing – sometimes it’s complicated in the head. But that is the future I feel for cinemas.”
Further discussing the shooting of the film in a green/blue screen studio, Kriti said, “It surprises you sometimes. I have no ambiance to imagine that this creature is coming and this bird is here and I don’t know where. Like when I went on sets for the first time, it’s like ‘Yahan valley hai, yahan ek cave hai, yahan ek waterfall ayega’ and I’m saying, ‘kahan?’ That is a very different experience. And the way he’s telling the story, a story we all know, a story we’ve all grown up hearing, we all know. So it doesn’t seem like something surprising is happening but as he will tell you, you will be very engaged. It will be an experience.”

Commenting on the video, one netizen joked, “I like how the clip ends with “it’s going to be an experience”, well she wasn’t wrong there.”
Another said, “Maybe she didn’t know how the graphics would turn out and had faith that the director is “technologically sound”, but surely she read the script?. How was she okay with the cringey dialogues. Also, it’s incredibly unfair to shoot everything inside a studio when there’s so much greenery all over the country.”
A third said, “All the red flags are there: His vision is very different, it was truly different, so different it was a cartoon show. Shooting everything without a real atmosphere, relying entirely on a blue screen.”
A fourth joked, “Why blame the poor actors!! unko laga avatar banaenge aur ban gayi adiprush”
Another added, “His vision is a ps3 game. Kriti never played games.”
