Mick Schumacher fires confident plea to three F1 bosses with Lewis Hamilton influence | F1 | Sport
Mick Schumacher has sent a direct message to F1 bosses up and down the grid considering giving him a second chance, insisting “you haven’t seen the real Mick yet”. As the son of legendary F1 driver Michael Schumacher, the 24-year-old always entered the sport with some pressure.
His motorsport achievements culminated in winning the F3 and F2 titles, where he earned a place in F1 with Haas. But Schumacher struggled to make an impact on a car that was constantly racing at the back of the pack and cost the team a lot of money due to several major crashes.
Haas eventually replaced Schumacher with Nico Hulkenberg for the 2023 season and Mercedes stepped in to offer the young German a role as the team’s reserve driver. Schumacher admits to Sky Germany that his time with Mercedes was “beneficial in many ways, probably even more than I expected” and added: “The simulator work was especially helpful. I was able to see how things work excellent team.”
But a return to the F1 grid is what Schumacher wants with one eye next year. “It hurt, of course. I would be lying if I said I liked it,” he said.

“I’m a racing driver. All I want to do is win. But I have to face reality, keep working, keep trying to have a conversation and present myself.” Most of the 2024 grid is already in place and only four seats are currently available.
AlphaTauri has not made a final decision on its line-up with Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo not yet committed to next year. Both Alfa Romeo and Williams have just one seat yet to be confirmed with Guanyu Zhou and Logan Sargeant at risk of losing out.
