Brian May unveils how Freddie Mercury helps new Queen show ‘Never done before’ | Music | Entertainment
Queen and Adam Lambert’s North American tour is currently in Chicago, with the second night of Halloween taking place this evening.
Sir Brian May recently took to social media to add to the ever-changing show, which includes AI robots and the voice of Freddie Mercury singing 1984’s Machines (Or Back To Humans).
The 76-year-old guitarist captioned the show’s new opening video: “Good Evening Chicago Folks!! Prepare for a feast! I wanted to introduce you to these robots.”
Sir Brian continued: “They’re leading the narrative of our new show … but I don’t want to say too much, because we like you to figure it out in your own way. But in these days where Artificial Intelligence is starting to take over all our lives, these people are the personification of Robotic Uprising. And you can notice that the song. Machines – or Back to Humans – the soundtrack to us as humans reclaiming our control (at least this evening!) you could also notice that Freddie’s hand is leading the counter-attack.
“Some people have also noticed that Freddie’s voice seems to come ‘out of nowhere’. That is because it arises from behind you. On this tour, for the first time ever, we have a ‘Quad’ PA system – if you turn around you will see the speaker banks at the back of the venue.
“This is what we had in the 1970s – but the technology wasn’t really up to it. But now IS !!! I will be interested to hear if you guys figure out what ELSE comes out of the back speakers!! So Freddie helps us drive the machines out in the first few minutes of the show. But that is not the end of the story … as you will see.”
Sir Brian added: “And towards the end of the show we’re looking at what we’re doing – and asking whether our Blue Planet’s biosphere has a future.
“But there is more…. And we hope to keep you guessing until the end of the show. But our rock roots are at the heart of it all … and above all, we hope to fulfill our promise … you rock, you rock and you rock. We will go!!”
