Andrea McLean recalls hysterical smear test which left doctor ‘getting stuck’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Andrea McLean told of the time a doctor’s finger got “stuck” while doing a smear test.
On Wednesday (November 1), the former Loose Woman published a new entry for her YouTube-hosted Midlife Conversations project.
The episode was titled Stop Apologizing When You Have Nothing To Be Sorry For Getting Rid of and featured an open conversation with author Lucy Nichol.
During the beginning of the conversation, Andrea, 54, opened up about a smear test experience that she “never said publicly”.
“I went in for my smear test – this was many, many years ago – and it was a young male doctor,” she said before clarifying that a nurse was in the room at the same time.
Andrea continued to say that while the practitioner was doing her smear test, she started laughing uncontrollably.
“Anyone who knows when you laugh your muscles tense. And tensed my muscles so hard his finger got stuck.
“And he kept saying, ‘Miss McLean, Miss McLean, please stop laughing’, and I was going ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’ and he couldn’t get his finger out.”
“Obviously this is before children,” she joked. “Because that wouldn’t be a problem now.”
Andrea then said that she kept laughing long enough for the doctor to “jank” his finger out, but then she revealed the bombshell.
“The glass stayed in,” she told Lucy.
“I’m there, crying laughing, with gloves hanging out and the nurse, she’s bent twice, and in the end he ran out of the room and left me there,” continued the journalist.
“And I said ‘I’m so sorry about that, I’m sorry’ and anyway, we had a good old laugh and I got over it.”
The mother-of-two then added cheekily: “If we’d already met, you could put that in your book,” referring to Lucy’s latest fiction novel, No Worries If Not!
