The Marvelsthird Marvel Studios film of Phase Five, is doing everything in its power to excite fans in preparation for the film’s November 10th theatrical release. That includes a healthy sprinkling of Easter eggs in its promotional material, and one of those eggs belongs to the X-Men.

The MCU has been teasing the arrival of the X-Men for quite some time now: Ms. Marvel Earth-616 version of Kamala Khan confirmed to be a mutant, Wolverine’s MCU debut is around the corner in Deadpool 3, and a new X-Men movie is officially in development. So be it, except for a variant version of Professor Xavier i Doctor Strange and the multitude of madnessthere’s very little X-Men material we can bring into the rest of Phase Five and Six.

That said, if Marvel’s subtle hints are any indication, then Earth-616 could finally get its first wave of mutants. The Marvels.

The x-men rumors i The Marvelsexplained

Easter eggs come in all shapes and sizes, but Marvel used the sneaky editing trick in a recent promo for The Marvels ⏤ titled “What Comes Next” ⏤ anything but subtle. Using the catchphrase “Be there for what comes next” to whet our appetites, the trailer broke the sentence into three equal parts, with the last two words going in and out within the four last second. As the “next” falls, the “X” in the “first” remains on the screen for a fraction of a second longer than the rest of the word, clearly visible in subsequent screenshots. That was all the fandom needed to stick the theory by the horn and start speculating.

As mentioned, Kamala Khan is already a mutant, so The Marvels That box was technically checked once her character was involved in the film. She doesn’t have to be an X-Man, though, so in addition to introducing a new character (or characters), the film could also serve as fertile ground for delving deeper into her mutant origins.

With Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine on stage Deadpool 3, it’s clear that 20th Century Fox’s X-Men is ripe for a revival. Some fans are still convinced that the notion of the X-Men i The Marvels but it’s Fox’s iteration of the characters, which isn’t entirely off base considering what’s ahead in Phase Five.

This X-Men tease comes just weeks after the Loki The season 2 premiere included a not-so-subtle shot that screamed Cerebro, even if the show’s director vehemently denied any knowledge of that (definitely, Kasra).

Since the Loki season 2 finale and The Marvels With the theatrical premiere only a day apart, the belief – or hope – is that the latter will play off the former, and these twin X-Men Easter eggs straddle the line between the two head.

The longer we look at the current slate of Marvel projects (Loki, The Marvelsand Deadpool 3), the more we realize that Marvel may finally be connecting the dots between projects. Recent rumors even suggest that Deadpool 3 the TVA will be home.

So far, all three projects have ties to mutants in some shape or form, but whether or not any of them continue remains to be seen. Stay tuned for updates.
