Gayatri confirmed the news to Free Press Journal and said, “Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here (multi-car collision). By God’s grace, both of us are fine.”

It was reported that the Ferrari was the most affected, causing the death of a couple sitting inside. They were identified as Melissa Krautli, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67, from Switzerland. A video of the accident went viral on X.

Gayatri, who made her acting debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades, won the Femina Miss India International in 2000. Soon after the release of the film in 2004, she left the industry. Gayatri married Vikas Oberoi, Managing Director of Oberoi Constructions in 2005 and they have two children named Yuva and Vihaan.
