Prime Video has announced its direct-to-streaming premiere Pippa with the movie trailer. It is slated to launch this Diwali, on November 10. The film is an exciting story about a significant moment in history – the Battle of Garibpur, during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war; that was crucial in Bangladesh’s struggle for independence. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the RSVP banner and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films, and directed by Raja Krishna Menon, Ishaan essays the character of real-life war hero Captain Balram Singh Mehta alongside Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in central roles. Based on the book ‘The Burning Chaffees’ by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, the film is written by Menon, Tanmay Mohan, and Ravinder Randhawa. The stirring music by maestro AR Rahman provides an atmospheric backdrop to this tale of patriotism and sacrifice.

The action thriller takes its name from the amphibious battle tank known as the PT-76 (Palavushi Tanka), popularly known as “Pippa”, like an empty can of ghee that floats gently on water. This wartime saga tells a story of patriotism and bravery, and traces the coming of age of Captain Balram Mehta (essay by Jesuit) of the 45 Cavalry Tank Squadron. Together, Balram Mehta and the Indian Armed Forces exemplify bravery and courage, in a war to liberate another country, and redefine what it means to be a hero. The trailer takes us back in time, when India fought the Battle of Garibpur, in the east. Captain Balram Singh Mehta took command of the squadron after its leader fell during the mission. Along with his brothers, he was at the forefront of the war and was involved in India’s quest for victory. With the battle cry “We fight like soldiers, we kill like soldiers, and we die like soldiers” acting as a clarion call, Indian forces gave it their all, resulting in the liberation of Bangladesh.
