According to information available on BSE and NSE, Indian stock markets (NSE and BSE) will open for one hour for Diwali 2023 Muhurat trading on 12 November 2023 (Sunday).

Muhurat 2023 trading time

As per the circular issued by NSE and BSE, Muhurat Trading 2023 will be held on 12 November 2023 (Sunday) from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM. This includes a 15 minute open pre-market session from 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM. Trading would be done across various segments like equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) simultaneously.

Muhurat trade history

Out of the last ten Muhurat trading sessions, Indian stock market ended higher on eight sessions. Muhurat trade last year was the best in a decade as the BSE Sensex ended over 524 points higher. However, 2017 witnessed the worst Muhurat trade in the last decade when the 30-stock index ended 194 points lower. It was the other year when key Indian indices ended lower on Muhurat trade than in 2017.

On what should be an ideal strategy for Muhurat 2023 trading, Avinash Gorakshkar, Head of Research at Profitmart Securities said, “Usually, Muhurat trading remains very volatile. As it is a symbolic trading session, we do not see much liquidity on trading Muhurat. So, my recommendation for Muhurat traders is to pick stocks that have relatively higher liquidity versus their peers.”

Profitmart Securities expert said that like Muhurat trding 2022, this year will also be a positive Muhurat trading session stating, “Generally, the market gives positive results before the Lok Sabha polls. As we are going to poll a government new mare next year, I expect this factor to work during Muhurat trading as well.”

Muhurat trading is a one-hour trading session that takes place on the day of Diwali. Investing in stocks is considered an exciting time. Market investors believe that Diwali is considered the ideal time to start new investments. Investors are said to benefit from trading during this session throughout the year. It is believed that trading during the ‘muhurat’ or auspicious time brings prosperity and financial growth.
