WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) – Mark Scheifele had a goal and two assists to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 5-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night.
“I’m just going to keep working on my game,” said Scheifele, who has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in his last six games. “I feel good, a lot of good thoughts on my mind about what I will do in practice. You just have to keep it going.
“There is always growth in the game. No one is ever complacent, and you just have to keep trying to work. That’s my opinion. I like my game, and I want to continue to grow it.”
Kyle Connor, with his league-leading 14th goal, Josh Morrissey, Vladislav Namestnikov and Mason Appleton scored for Winnipeg (10-5-2), which has won three straight and six of its last seven. Laurent Brossoit made 16 saves.
With the win, the Jets ended their five game streak with a 4-1-0 record.

“In this league, every team is hard to beat and everybody has their different things they like to throw at you,” Jets coach Scott Arniel said. “Our group, at the moment, is confident and we’re doing a lot of very good things, and we’re a tough team to play against.”
Matt Dumba and Matias Maccelli scored a goal for Arizona (8-7-2) and Karel Vejmelka stopped 21 of 25 shots.
“I’m really happy with our effort,” Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. “I’m really happy with our defensive mentality, our mentality away from the puck. That was really good.
“The only part of the game I didn’t like was the way we played in the offensive zone when we had the puck. I really liked our forecheck but, when we were in possession, I didn’t like the fact that we were trying to make an extra play.”
Morrissey gave Winnipeg the lead 4:15 into the third period, converting a pass from Scheiele on a 2-on-1.
Appleton sealed it with an empty netter with 2:30 left.
Connor scored 11:26 into the middle frame, taking a quick pass from Scheifele and scoring over Vejmelka’s right shoulder to give the Jets a 3-2 lead.
“I’m trying to be as lethal as I can, I think, in the offensive zone,” Connor said. “To be a bit more versatile as well and try to score in as many different ways as I can.”
Dumba evened the score at 2-2 after a perfect pass from Travis Boyd over Brossoit at 6:08 of the second period.
The Jets rallied from a 1-0 deficit with a pair of goals just 58 seconds apart in the opening frame.
Scheiele scored on a backhand shot at the 17:04 mark to tie things up.
Namestnikov then beat Vejmelka to the puck behind the goal, then banked a shot into the empty net off Arizona’s leading Lawson Crouse.
Maccelli opened the scoring, converting a pass from JJ Moser, who found Maccelli alone at the side of an empty net.
Morrissey’s first-period assist was the 200th of his NHL career, making him just the third defenseman in franchise history to reach that milestone.
Coyotes: Host Los Angeles on Monday.
Jets: Begin a three-game road trip at Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
