Australia outclassed India to win the 2023 ODI World Cup on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The comfortable six-wicket victory ensured that Australia won their sixth ODI World Cup and closed the Narendra Modi Stadium loudly in the process.
Travis Head scored 137 runs off 120 balls to bag the Player of the Match honours. He partnered with Marnus Labuschagne as Australia pushed down the total of 241 runs with ease in the end. It didn’t look easy when David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith departed without helping the cause much and Aussies were 47/3.
Ceannaire and Labuschagne came to the rescue with a 191-run partnership but the former departed trying to get the winning runs. Glenn Maxwell got the job done in the end.

As expected, celebrations broke out inside the Australian dressing room after the win but one photo has emerged that has social media users in awe. Posted by Aussie skipper Pat Cummins on his Instagram story, Marsh can be seen with his feet up on a table with the trophy next to him.
The photo has attracted numerous comments. “Please have some respect for the branch”, wrote one user.
“Bro, show some respect for the World Cup. Ask Indian fans or India team about the value of this trophy,” wrote another user.
“They deserve it but this was very cheap,” wrote a third user.

Marsh made 15 runs a ball during the chase before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul completed the catch. He brilliantly beat an Indian player as he strolled around suggesting that the Australian team were comfortable in the chase.
Earlier this month, Marsh flew home for personal reasons. He returned after missing a game and reportedly sent a text message to team-mate Marcus Stonis and said, “I’m going to be at home for a little while and then I’m coming back to win this World Cup .”
