Matt Jackson-Smith shared the agony and “shock” he suffered when his wife Katherine gave birth to their child, but revealed that she became pregnant again just six weeks later, and that the little girl “the best birthday present” ever.

The Yorkshire Vet star was initially traumatized by their loss, but after talking to family and friends and realizing how “common” the couple’s devastating miscarriage experience could be, Matt felt “comforted” and resolved both “keep trying”.

“The moment she showed me the [positive] pregnancy test [six weeks later]we knew life was about to change dramatically,” said the 34-year-old veterinary expert.

“There were only a few times in my life when I was speechless – that moment and when Anastasia was born.”

Sure enough, Matt hailed his little bundle as “the best present ever” when she was finally born via planned C-section on October 25 – and Katherine joked that her arrival at the right time meant she didn’t need any buy a birthday for her husband. gifts.

Despite admitting on Instagram that he’s already “peed, poed and vomitted on”, Matt can’t stop smiling.

Despite his status as an expert vet, Anastasia joked that Matt was more used to taking care of reptiles at home than children.

In the past, she even got frustrated that she couldn’t leave dogs alone for more than a few hours – but now he’s a hands-on dad.

Talking to Okay! magazine, Matt revealed that coping with being a first-time parent is “team work” – and that he has learned to “survive on four or five hours of sleep”.

Matt is responsible for staying awake until 1am for feeds, then starts early the next morning again.

“Cold showers, though, wow! They’re revolutionary for waking you up!” he joked.

The Channel 5 star tried his best to guess the baby’s gender before it was born, believing his experience of scanning “pregnant cows and dogs” could be helpful.

However, he couldn’t resist a sneak peek when it came to the 20-week scan at the ultrasonographer’s office.

“She told us to close our eyes when she got to that part, and Katherine asked, ‘Is he closing his part?’ She pulled me in, though, and said, ‘He’s got it, he’s not good,'” he joked.

Meanwhile, Matt revealed his ambitions for his daughter to pursue and become a vet herself.

He promised that once her baby is old enough, “she will have her overalls on” – and that she may even appear on an upcoming TV series that will be the centerpiece of the film.

However, he is not sure if he wants to expand his family further.

“We’ve got our hands full right now. We’ve had enough of this mix of joy and chaos,” admitted the happy but exhausted new dad.
