TV presenter and actress Annabel Giles has died aged 64 | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Molly McQueen and Tedd Giles paid tribute to their “incredible mother” who was “truly one of a kind” in a statement shared on her social media accounts after her death on Monday.
It read: “In July, Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a fast growing and very aggressive malignant brain tumour.
“In the months that followed, she showed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing multiple brain surgeries and radiotherapy. In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness of glioblastoma.”
The former model hosted Sarah Greene’s ITV fashion show Posh Frocks and New Trousers in the 1990s, was a panellist on shows including Have I Got News For You and appeared on I’m A Celebrity.
She was married to musician and record producer Midge Ure, with whom she had Molly. They later divorced before she had Tedd in another relationship.
More recently, Annabel, who starred in the 1993 film Riders and joked on her X life account she was “Not Annabel Croft”, was a resident agony aunt on the Eleri Sion show for BBC Radio Wales and worked as a psychotherapist after retraining.
Her children added: “True to nature, she kept her spirits high and her wits sharp to the end. Her humor and laughter will leave us inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she always did.”
Channel 4 news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53, who co-starred on Posh Frocks and New Trousers, described Annabel as “funny, intelligent and gorgeous”.
While co-host Sarah, 66, lit candles for her father’s 100th birthday, saying: “With love, Greenebottome XX”.
Molly and Tedd have asked for donations to be made to Martlets Hospice in Hove.
